Studying an Undergraduate
course abroad.
This covers all BA and Bsc courses. Bachelors courses
are traditionally for high school graduates or those
with an International Baccalaureate or A-levels. However
there are many other routes in, especially for the International
Student. There are access or foundation courses or community
colleges which can be taken as steps to a degree.
A bachelors course would generally last three to four
years depending in which country you study. However,
some private universities have full degrees that can
be completed in two years and in some parts of the world
can take over four years. Many degree courses now include
a 'sandwich' year or placement year where the student
works in a related area. This adds time to the study
length. International students must check that they
are eligible to work in the country of study.
If you are applying to the UK, application is done
through UCAS. More information can be found on www.ucas.ac.uk
. However it is also advisable to contact the institutions
first.
Students looking to apply to the United States must
apply directly to the institution and follow the application
from there.
To apply to Canada, again contact the institution first.
Once you have been accepted follow the procedures from
there. As Canada does not have a national education
system the procedures vary between provinces, so check.
This is also true in Europe, different countries have
different procedures so check with the institutions
you are applying to for the correct application procedure(s).
