Name: Mika Nakagawa
Place of Study: Medicine Hat College
Course: English as a Second Language

Student Photo

I began English as a Second Language classes at Medicine Hat College in Level 4 and quickly passed to Level 1 in 2004.  I easily progressed from the E.S.L. program into regular programs at the College.

I am now a second year student in the Deaf and Blind Support Services program.

Even though I graduated from the E.S.L. program almost 2 years ago, the staff in the International Education office have helped me so many times.  They always try to make an international student’s life in Medicine Hat comfortable and easy.  Instructors help us not only with English but also with our private lives.

When I first arrived at the College, there were only 4 levels and 4 instructors, but now there are 6 instructors teaching 4 levels.   The people in the International Education office have worked hard and made my school life easier.

Thank you Medicine Hat College!

The Language Exchange

I'm attending The Language Exchange and studying TOEFL. I really like this school, because I have a lot of opportunity to speak with teachers. My school is small. Therefore all students and teachers are always together and there is always a multinational mix. I have met Swiss, Germans, Mexicans, Russians and others. When I went to a big school, I couldn't see that much nationality! We have a variety of activities. They are enjoyable, and we can have a lot of fun with different friends from other countries. I have a good time. What I especially like are our teachers. They are skilful and very friendly. In our attempt to succeed in our life overseas, we need to choose a school carefully, because improving our English and making a lot of friends depends on the school. I'm going back to my country soon. I'm sure I'm going to miss the school, my friends and Canada, but I will always have great memories.

Name: Natalia Giacomini
Country of Origin: Brazil
Place of Study: ILAC Toronto

I have been studying English in Toronto at ILAC, and my experience has been greater than I expected. The city is charming and exciting. I ride my bicycle everywhere and enjoy seeing trees and parks in the downtown core. Canadians are really friendly and helpful and their English is so clear. I am excited for the winter, so I can see snow and go skiing for the first time. This has been an experience that I will never forget.

Name: Kang Han Keun (Peter) Country of Origin: Korea
Place of Study: Inter-Dec College

I'm from South Korea. Kang Han Keun is my real name but most of my friends in Canada prefer to call me Peter because it is easier to remember. I have met lots of friends since I arrived in Canada in April of last year. I have just graduated from the Animation/Multimedia Program at Inter-Dec College in Montreal, a subsidiary of the LaSalle College Group. When I decided to go to Canada to study, my friends said "Are you crazy or what?", I had no friends or relatives in Montreal. I am also not that young anymore to start a new direction in life. I had found Inter-Dec College through the Internet and I met the co-ordinator for International Recruitment for the LaSalle College Group in Korea at the Canadian Education Fair. What motivated me to study in Canada was that Montreal is one of the best cities for learning Animation/Multimedia and also that it is a safe city. I worked very hard to succeed in my studies. I learned how to manage myself and how to create my future. Now that I am a graduate, if anyone needed advice on the best city to study abroad, I would recommend Montreal without hesitation.
