Cornwall & The Seaway Valley

Cornwall and the Seaway Valley has long been a destination for many Canadians and international visitors. A diverse area, visitors can experience different cultures and uniquely Canadian activities. Once you have been here, it's not hard to see why they keep coming back.

Located on the banks of the scenic St. Lawrence River is Cornwall, a community of 47,000, known as the 'Friendly Seaway City'. One of Canada's oldest permanently settled communities, Cornwall was founded in 1784 by the Loyalists (Americans loyal to the King of England), making the area rich in history and a favourite destination of many tourists.

Cornwall, Ontario & the Seaway Valley

Geographically located in the eastern-most region of the Province of Ontario, Cornwall is the gateway to many Canadian and International destinations. Situated along major transportation systems including railways and major Canadian highways, travel is made easy for visitors and students. In addition, the Seaway International Bridge is a direct link to the United States, and two international airports (Ottawa and Mirabel in Montreal) are only one hour away.

Called the Seaway Valley because of its location along the mighty St. Lawrence River Seaway - the major waterway linking the Atlantic Ocean to the Great Lakes - the area offers many attractions for visitors. Rich in culture, the Cornwall region hosts many international festivals and events showcasing the diversity of the Canadian cultural makeup. Other exciting attractions and activities include museums, community theatres, historical sites and nature areas. Experience four seasons - many activities and events happen in each making a stay exciting and educational.

Studying in Canada is a rewarding experience, but there are some fundamental questions which must be answered - among them, safety and cost of living issues. Having a sense of security is an important factor when deciding where to get an education. Cornwall and Eastern Ontario has one of Canada's best safety records. Streets are safe to walk on and people still say hi to passing strangers. Living costs in the area are among the lowest in Ontario, making renting accommodations affordable. Important to many students is the fact that there are rental facilities that can accommodate short-term stays. Whether from a large urban centre or a rural area, students and visitors will feel welcome, with the amenities of a large urban centre including a city bus system, shopping malls and restaurants, while maintaining a feeling of 'community'.

Many types of industries and businesses have located in Cornwall because of its exceptional qualities, including transportation, cost and standard of living, and the progressive nature of the community. A concerted effort has been made on the part of the city, its industries and businesses to stay on the leading edge of trends and technologies. Lincien College of Business and Technology is among one of these world-class facilities. Offering leading edge programming in Telecommunications Infrastructure and Geographic Information and Survey Technologies, Lincien teaches to International standards using the latest technologies.

Cornwall and the Seaway Valley is an attractive place to live and study. Welcoming visitors from around the world is their specialty. See why this area is considered the doorstep to a world of opportunities!
