Study Business
in Melbourne

Melbourne, with its temperate climate in Victoria and a population in excess of 3.5 million, is regarded by thousands of overseas students already here as a valued location for study - and a rewarding life experience.

Melbourne is one of the great multicultural cities of the world, and can now call itself the new home of people from throughout the world. The city enjoys a vibrant cultural, social and sporting life, and Victorian universities presently host many thousands of overseas students.

The Australian universities located in Melbourne have courses that cover a full range of disciplines, easily the equal of any found in the universities of Europe or the American and Asian nations. Melbourne has a particularly strong group of universities within the Business and Commerce disciplines - many often combine their degrees with Law, Engineering, Computing, Arts and the Sciences. All Melbourne's universities have comprehensive programs ranging from undergraduate degrees to PhD programs and post-doctoral opportunities.

Melbourne is regarded as a prime destination for tourists from all parts of the world. The courses presented reflect this important industry, with undergraduate and graduate programs in tourism, hospitality, marketing and local management available at Victoria University, which is particularly noted for its innovative programs in many specialty fields.

Students studying business and commerce in Melbourne find graduate and undergraduate programs in accounting, finance, risk management, insurance, banking, tourism, hospitality, marketing, business computing, management, economics, logistics, agribusiness, entrepreneurship, small business, commerce, law and legal studies, actuarial studies, and many related and sometimes specialised fields.

As well as these courses, all Melbourne universities offer MBA programs, and some -including RMIT and Victoria University - have introduced a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA), which is usually a research degree combining course work (one year) and thesis (two years) at Victoria University, for example.

Universities in Melbourne are innovative and progressive, and are increasingly supporting student learning with extensive course materials available in electronic format. However, primary learning still centers upon lectures and small group tutorials and seminars.

Australia, and Melbourne in particular, is a fine destination for new life experiences, and you will be made most welcome as a visitor and student.
