Introduction This web advert lists
a number of evening and intensive made short courses
offered by the Cavendish School of Computer Science
of the University of Westminster. Other specialist short
courses of various formats may be arranged from time
to time, details of which can be obtained on application.
Special
courses The School is pleased to discuss the provision of
special courses in any of the topics in this brochure.
The courses can be held at the University of Westminster
or in-house at the client's premises, and can be mounted
in a variety of formats depending on the organisation
for which they are arranged. Courses such as object-orientated
modelling and design, PERL, developing object-orientated
TCP/IIP applications, and developing client-server applications,
are a few examples of such special courses.
Special courses
have been conducted for a diversity of institutions
including the Church Commissioners, Harrods, House of
Commons, Ministry of Defence, National Foundation of
Educational Research, Our Price Records, Quotient Software,
and Wellcome plc, amongst others.

for your customised training requirements.
Computing
facilities
There are a number of linked 64Mb Sparc-10 file servers,
each with 3800Mb disk network to 400 terminals, and
SUN workstations running Solaris 2.5 UNIX, C, C++ and
ORACLE. We also have over 400 PC's running under Novell
Netware, Windows 3.x. Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows
NT4, MS-DOS and Linux; with a variety of packages including
LBMS Systems Engineer, Visual C++, Select, turbo C++
and Microsoft Office. The large machines are accessed
by means of interactive workstations and PCs located
in groups of various sizes throughout the New Cavendish
Street Building. At Ethernet local area network links
together many of the above machines. Two 36 inch wide
multicolour drum plotters are available.
Class
size and location
The class size and location is in the region of 10 to
15, maximum numbers apply to certain Courses. Systems
Analysis courses have a size maximum of 20. Such maximums
allow the instructors to devote more time to each participant
in personal tuition.
All classes are
held at 115 New Cavendish Street unless otherwise stated.
Course
format
Courses run for 10 weeks, one evening per week, except
Saturday run courses. Classes are held from 6.00pm to
8.00pm, apart from those run on Saturday which run from
10.00am to 5.00pm (breaking one hour for lunch).
Fees
All fees are payable in advance with only 75% of the
fees will be refunded if cancellation is received by
the School 10 days or more, before the course commences.
Once a course has been commences no refunds will be
given.
Cancellation
of courses
The University of Westminster reserves the right to
cancel or reschedule courses. In the event of cancellation
of a course by the University a full refund is payable.

Applications will be treated on a first
come first served basis and, when a course is full,
a reserve list will be started. In the event of cancellations,
places will be offered to those on the waiting list.
If demand is sufficient a second course may be mounted
if staff are available.
