THE UNIVERSITY BY THE SEA
When making the potentially life changing decision of
which University to attend, one must consider both academic
and non academic factors, after all, your education does
not begin and end in the lecture theatre, so, what does
the University of Wales Swansea have to offer the International
student ?
An impressive 470 degree courses at
undergraduate and postgraduate level, and one of
the highest "completion of study" rates in the UK.
Excellence in teaching and research.
Scholarships and funding available.
The University is located on a compact
campus in parkland facing the sea near the city
centre. Swansea is only 35 miles from Cardiff, the
capital of Wales, and has direct road and rail links
to London and all the major cities in the UK.
The campus offers the following
facilities; halls of residence, health centre, dentist
surgery, counselling service, chapel, mosque, bank,
post office, restaurants, bars, shops...etc, you
need never leave the campus !! A sports centre with
an Olympic sized swimming pool is located next to
the University.
Life in Swansea costs a great deal less
than other cities in the UK. Accommodation in particular
is a lot cheaper, and all halls of residence offer
a telephone and an internet connection point free
of charge.
Freshers week was recently voted the
best in Britain and the nightlife is excellent with
a huge choice of entertainment on offer.
In the 1998/1999 Alternative University
Rankings, of the 109 Universities assessed, Swansea
was ranked 28, with 92% of the students interviewed
stating that knowing what they know now, they would
still have chosen Swanse
