St. George's University - School of Medicine

St. George's University - School of MedicineSt. George’s University is an international centre of education located in Grenada, West Indies. Founded in 1977, St. George’s gives students an unrivalled global educational experience.

International Perspective
The University actively explores and initiates worldwide partnerships, drawing faculty and students from more than 136 countries. With this international focus, SGU’s diverse community develops the social and professional skills students need to practise medicine on a global scale.

Campus Locations and Affiliated Institutions
Most students begin their coursework on the newly constructed, 42+ acre True Blue campus in southwest Grenada. Through the Keith B. Taylor Global Scholars Program, some medical students spend the first year of study at Northumbria University in the United Kingdom, before completing the Basic Sciences in Grenada. Medical and veterinary medical students complete clinical training in affiliated institutions and approved clinical centres in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Ireland.

Successful Graduates

  • Over 7,000 graduates practise in every specialty and subspecialty of medicine, and in all areas of veterinary medicine across the world.
  • Approximately 25 percent of medical graduates go on to become Chief Residents in their last year of residency training programmes.
  • Veterinary medical graduates score on par with graduates from US institutions. Last year, six SGU graduates passed the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons statutory licencing examination – out of a total of 12 who passed in the entire United Kingdom.
