lnternational students who need to improve their English language proficiency to meet the admission criteria may want to consider enrolling at the English Language Institute (ELI).The EL1 provides a special non-degree intensive program (20 hours per week) focusing on English as a Second Language with equal emphasis on both communicative and academic needs for international students. Founded in 1857, Illinois State University was the first public university in the state and one of the Midwest's oldest institutions of higher education. lllinois State University is located in the twin-city community of Bloomington-Normal and is centrally located 137 miles southwest of Chicago and 164 miles northeast of St. Louis. The campus is comprised of 970 acres, including 61 major buildings.
