We
offer a four-year English program, providing
an outstanding academic model and a comprehensive
training for the practice of medicine.
It encompasses two years of Basic Medical
Science teaching at two campuses, main
campus in Belize and subcampus in Europe;
followed by two years of Clinical Clerkship
training. Hope students can graduate with
an M.D. degree in 40 months if courses
are taken continuously. Our Curriculum
follows the American Medical Schools’
educational system and is combined with
European educational exposure. Our academic
programs prepare students for USMLE, which
is required to practice medicine in the
United States, and which standard is recognized
and accepted all over the world. Clinical
Clerkship is available at affiliated ACGME
hospitals in the United States and accredited
Teaching Hospitals in Europe.
We are in the process of developing affiliations
with a major Research Center in the United
States where Hope students can earn credits
towards a combined degree. We now also
accept applicants for the two years pre-medical
science program, which can be taken during
three semesters that would prepare students
to enter the M.D. program.
The
University, in cooperation with Hope International
Medical Foundation, a non-profit humanitarian
organization, desires to respond to the
human sufferings throughout the world
by providing assistance to orphanages,
disadvantaged people and hospitals with
critical needs; and to promote health
care, research and education.
Hope University School of Medicine is
chartered by the Government of Belize,
Central America. Our University is recognized
by the Educational Commission for Foreign
Medical Graduates (ECFMG) in the United
States, and included in the International
Medical Education Directory (IMED). Hope
graduates are eligible to write the United
States Licensing Medical Examination (USMLE).
Upon passing the USMLE Part I and II,
completion of the English test and passing
the Clinical Skills Assessment (CSA) exam,
they are eligible for residency in the
United States.
