Site Location

Segovia is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It's difficult to find another city with such an abundance of monuments per square metre. Segovia was declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 1985.
It's a small city located right in the heart of Castilla (only an hour away from Madrid). Segovia is known for its use of "standard" spoken Spanish.

Segovia's population of 55.000 inhabitants makes this a safe and very pleasant city in which to live. The city is a celebration of culture with an abundance of activities, and it has a lively university atmosphere year round.

Our Teaching Staff

Our teachers have university degrees specialising in the particular courses they teach, and all faculty members have extensive teaching experience. They also participate in teaching workshops and in research projects.

Our teachers have developed their own up-to-date teaching materials for each subject offered for use along with standard textbooks.
At the beginning of the course, students are assessed in order to be placed at an academic level most appropriate to suit their needs.

Our Co-ordinators

All groups of Aula Magna Castellana Students will be met upon arrival at Barajas airport in Madrid by one our coordinators.
Our coordinators are responsibility for organising the extra curricular activities and to assist in anyway possible, so that our students have a successful and pleasant stay in Segovia.

Cultural Activities

With AMC you'll never be at a loss when comes to keeping busy. We offer, along with our courses, a wide range of activities, which allow you to put our classroom learning in practice. Our programs include either 32 or 36 house of multiple activities fully guided by our coordinators.
Different activities and events vary throughout the calendar year.

Among them are:

• Guided tours of Segovia and the city's monuments
  
• Route tour of the castles
  
• A visit to the Summer Palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso
  (includes outdoor movies in summer months)
  
• Concerts in the Alacazar
  
• Presentations and Panel Discussions
  
• Visits to Nature Parks and Prehistoric caves
  
• Regional Dance classes
  
• Mediterranean cooking class with a sampling or regional dishes
  
• Popular holidays: Christmas, Carnival, "Queimada", etc.

Optional excursion can be organised to other historical towns and places of interest, on the weekends.

AMC Club

Everyone who participates in our courses becomes a member of our Aula Magna club.

All members can take advantage of these services while here and at a later date.

• Welcome pack with maps and brochures with tourist information.
• A student ID in order to get discounts on public transport, museums and other cultural activies.
• Possibility to maintain the language through correspondance in Spanish with the teachers and Spanish students.
• Job Opportunities - you can help finance your course by tutoring English to Spanish children, camp counselor or interships at a company.
