It’s your future. You may be considering your options, or you may know exactly the path you want to take. No matter your desired destination, obtaining your education at Acadia University (www.acadiau.ca) will ensure you arrive prepared. Acadia is one of Canada’s oldest, liberal arts universities, with one of the country’s best reputations for academic excellence. We offer programs at the undergraduate and graduate level in:

  • The Arts – Canadian Studies, Classics, Comparative Religion, Economics, English and Theatre, History, Languages and Literature, Music, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology, Women’s Studies
  • Pure and Applied Sciences – Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Earth and Environmental Science, Mathematics and Statistics, Nutrition and Dietetics, Physics, Psychology
  • Professional Studies– Business Administration, Education, Kinesiology, Recreation Management

The university is nestled in the Annapolis Valley. Here the highest tides in the world are drawn to the Bay of Fundy, and each year approximately 3,000 students are similarly drawn to Acadia. The university was founded in 1838 and is located in the picturesque town of Wolfville , Nova Scotia, Canada(www.wolfville.ca) approximately 100 km northwest of Halifax, the province’s dynamic capital city.

Our 250-acre campus of sloping lawns and majestic trees with ivy-covered halls of academia provide the perfect complement to the cutting edge Acadia-only technology, widely-recognized research, environmental awareness, and varsity sports powerhouse that are the hallmarks of Acadia’s distinction in the Canadian university scene.

A Step Ahead

While consistently being ranked one of the best universities in Canada helps build Acadia’s reputation, our focus is to put our students first. That’s why we pride ourselves on innovative teaching, unparalleled technology, small class sizes, and exceptional facilities.

The award-winning Acadia Advantage made Acadia a laureate in the Smithsonian Institution ( United States) as the first university in North America to pioneer technology, through campus-wide use of laptop computers, as part of its curriculum. Today, Acadia has a unique partnership with Apple and Dell that offers students exclusive pricing and Acadia-specific laptops.

We’ve made considerable campus-wide infrastructure investments to reduce our consumption of electricity, fuel oil, and water – producing a 13-million kilogram reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. Acadia’s newest building on campus is a state-of-the-art biology complex designed to meet Gold LEED® designation through Canada’s Green Building Council. And our interested students operate an on-campus organic farm to provide our dining hall with fresh, local vegetables.

And thanks to a significant renovation gift, Raymond Field now includes eight lanes of all-weather running track, artificial turf that uses reground athletic shoes and tire material to hold the synthetic field in place, and new nighttime lighting. The field hosts varsity soccer, football and rugby.

Make Your Connections

Once you arrive on Acadia’s campus you will feel it — The Acadia Spirit. It is that sense of belonging, of being a part of something bigger that is also small enough to include you as an integral part. Here, you will have a supportive community of friends, professors, and mentors.

We believe in a personalized education. That means social, personal, and spiritual activities are coordinated to help educate mind, body, and soul. You can cheer on our varsity teams or participate in any of our 100 student organizations, volunteer opportunities, and recreational activities.

We feature small class sizes and offer our undergraduate students an unparalleled opportunity to participate in meaningful undergraduate and graduate research, often in partnerships with other premier institutions.

Wolfville offers a range of amenities from specialty shops, pubs, and dance clubs to sidewalk cafes, farmers’ markets, and nearby wineries. The town also features theatre, art shows, and festivals. Nearby beaches and river tubing are a must for all.

Nearly half of Acadia’s 3,000 students call residence home. Their reasons are convenience, personal safety, cost savings, award-winning dining, and making friends for life.

Acadia’s network of 25,000 alumni is one of the most sought after by professional organizations and institutions. Our grads are known to be innovative — a quality we believe is a result of the opportunities and experiences you will have at Acadia.
